Civico Museo Sartorio

TCivico Museo Sartorio has been hosted since 1947 in the villa of the Startorio family. Among its exhibits one can admire pottery, majolica (earthenware vases with enamel coating) and porcelain objects and Rococo and new Gothic style paintings, which decorated the villas of Trieste at 19the century.

One of the most unique exhibits is the collection of 254 works by Giambattista Tiepolo (1696-1770), one of the most important 18th-century European artists.

Another important part of the Museum is the famous glyptotheque with 250 pieces of work from the Middle Ages up to 19th century. What is striking is that most of the works of the glyptotheque were donated to Museo Sartorio by Trieste families from their personal collections.
