Napoleon Road (Strada Napoleonica) has been an integral part of Trieste since 1821, when its construction started. It is a long 5-km path joining the Italian countryside from Opicina to the region of Prosecco.

This route also offers the best view to the sea and the Gulf of Trieste and to one of the most beautiful sunsets of the city.

In the summer, you can also, after walk along Strada Napoleonica, follow the locals for a dip in the Bacola beach, lying near the bottom of the road.
