Samaria Gorge

Samaria Gorge is the most famous hiking gorge of Europe. 15 kilometres of hiking await you, through a virgin landscape of unique beauty, that you will not be able to stop looking at.

The track starts at the plateau of Omalos and in mid-distance you’ll see the village of Samaria. It is uninhabited as it is now part of the National Park. Further down, you will notice that the canyon becomes narrower and you will find yourself walking among rocks over 500 metres high.

A true reward awaits you after the narrow passage! The sky-blue waters of Hagia Roumeli are just what you need after such a long hike (5-7 hours). After resting and enjoying the landscape, you can complete your excursion by hopping on the small boat that will take you to the picturesque village of Loutro, to Chora Sfakion or to the beaches of Palaiochora and Sougia.
