The Aegean Maritime Museum is located in Chora (Mykonos Town) and housed in a 19th century Cycladic mansion. The museum’s numerous exhibits relate to marine life and shipping, attesting to the rich maritime history of the island.

In the garden of the museum you will have the opportunity to take a close look at the authentic mechanism once installed at the Lighthouse (Faros) of Armenistis; it was an award-winning piece of machinery, at the Paris International Expo.

The Aegean Maritime Museum is also the only museum in Greece in possession of two memorial ships: the Aegean Sea sailboat “Evangelistria” (constructed in 1940) and the cable steamship “Thalis o Milissios” (constructed in 1909), which were rescued, restored and are now operating again, using the technology of their own time.
