Archaeological Museum of Igoumenitsa

The Archaeological Museum of Igoumenitsa is a modern regional museum whose exhibits are divided into five main sections, relating to the history of the place: Archaeological-Historical background, Villages of Historical Times, Public Life, Private Life and Burial customs.

On the whole, the permanent collection of the Museum entitled "Thesprotians’ Country” ranges from the Middle Paleolithic period to the Ottoman occupation(19th c. AD) and shows through selected findings and rich accompanying visual material, the most important historical points and the uniqueness of the multifaceted archaeological past of Thesprotia.

The Archaeological Museum of Igoumenitsa is, now, a vibrant cultural center in the town of Igoumenitsa since it offers the public alternative ways of learning and entertainment.
